The ten criteria for fiber optic cable installation are as follows:

1. Do not pull the optical fiber itself directly. The optical fiber cable is composed of two or more glass or plastic optical fiber cores, and the material is fragile, so it can only pull the strength components of the optical cable.

2. Do not exceed the maximum pull load rating. In the long run, use appropriate lubricants and make sure they are compatible with the cable sheath. Pull from the middle to both ends, if possible, use an automatic wheel puller with tension control or at least a separate eye puller to understand and follow the recommended maximum cable load rating.

3. Do not exceed the bending radius of the cable. When pulled straight, the fiber is stronger than steel, but if it is bent too tightly, it is easy to break. This can damage the fiber immediately, and then the cable must be removed and thrown away.

4. Always roll the cable away from the spool, not from the end of the spool. Every turn of the spool will twist the cable, so do not twist the cable. In addition, twisting on the cable also forces the fiber.

5. Make sure your cable is long enough to support cable operation. Optical fiber fusion makes engineering more complex and cost-effective, and requires special protection.

6. The indoor cable can be installed directly, but you can consider putting it into the inner conduit. Innerduct provides a good way to identify and protect fiber optic cables from damage, and you can obtain the inner conduit using the installed pull strap.

7. Plan to install. A detailed written installation plan can eliminate 95% of the problems in the installation process. The plan shall include equipment and supplies, optical cable specifications, equipment location, test requirements, test data sheet, personnel experience level and allocation, installation method, identification of potential problem areas and safety issues, etc.

8. When pulling the cable during construction, do not push the cable, as pushing may violate the bending radius.

9. Monitor the supply reel. To prevent violation of the minimum bending radius, the supply reel must be monitored during installation.

10. Communicate along the installation path. If you want to install for a long time, please communicate and monitor along the installation path. The fiber optic cable will fall from the unmonitored pulley, so at least one person should monitor the pulling equipment, one person should monitor the feeding tray, and one person should coordinate all personnel in the construction and installation.
